
The government of Mexico City is preparing various activities to celebrate the Day of the Dead. On Wednesday, October 30, the decorative lighting in the Zócalo of the capital will be turned on, created by the Secretariat of Works and Services. The Monumental Offering for the Day of the Dead will also be inaugurated on the Zócalo, organized by the Xibalbá Art Workshop.
On November 2, the Grand Day of the Dead Parade will take place, which will start from the Lion's Gate in Chapultepec and cover eight kilometers until it reaches the Zócalo. This parade will feature more than 5,800 participants in 37 contingents, seven floats, and various musical performances and acts.
Additionally, the Festival of Cempasúchil Flowers is open to the public on Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, showcasing more than 140 producers and approximately 5,000 families dedicated to cultivating this flower.
The head of government, Clara Brugada, presented the celebrations for the Day of the Dead 2024, which will take place from October 26 to November 2, with an estimated participation of more than 7 million people and an economic impact of more than 2 billion pesos.
To kick off the festivities, on Saturday, October 26, the Night Ride 'Move on Bicycle' will take place, a 20-kilometer route from the Petroleum Fountain to Izazaga Street in the Historic Center, organized by the Secretariat of Mobility.
On Sunday, October 27, the eleventh edition of the Mega Catrinas Procession will take place, a citizen initiative to revive the expressions of the Mexican tradition during these dates.
